Staff reporter: Erosion by the Padma River took a serious turn in the last 5 September 2012 in Kushtia, rendering 10 families homeless and devouring 200 acres of agricultural land at three villages in Daulotpur upazilla of Kushtia
The badly affected village is Mohammadpur under Insaf nagor area in the upazila.
The villagers said MST. SHAMOLI KHATUN’s house and tress have also been damaged due to the erosion. The villagers informed that MST. SHAMOLI KHATUN was a helpless widow. After the death of her husband, she was living with 07 (Seven) children. But erosion by the Padma River on 05 September’ 2012, she lived in a tent with her children. She maintained her family by catching fishes in the Padma River. Now dry season, she is fully helpless widow. As a result, SHAMOLI KHATUN wants help to the rich people in the society for making shelter.
